Supply Technician
About the role
This position is responsible for inspecting material based on correspondence and reports, receiving communications regarding discrepancies, performing physical inventory counts, conducting preliminary research, and managing inventory and location surveys.
Responsibilities
- Inspect material based on correspondence and reports
- Receive and respond to communications regarding discrepancies involving material inspections, issues, shipments, receipts, storage, and inventory adjustment actions
- Perform physical inventory counts, material inspections, and location survey checks
- Update records based on cyclic inspections and research receipt discrepancies for record adjustments
- Conduct preliminary research for inventory and location surveys, update item data, perform material tracking, input Material Release Orders (MRO's), Stock Transfer Orders (STO’s), and research
- Perform filing, correspondence, and other clerical tasks
Requirements
- Specialized experience: Investigating a variety of errors such as incorrect issue/receipt transactions, improper or incomplete stock number changes, improper condition changes, duplicate shipments, erroneous inventory adjustments, and failure of warehouses to maintain accurate locator records, etc.
- Researching stock/record discrepancies and/or determining causes of record adjustments.
- Receiving, interpreting, investigating, researching, and responding to Supply Discrepancy Reports (SDRs) from various sources.
Qualifications
- One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To qualify at the GS-05 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector.
- Education Substitution: Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Education must be from a college or university accredited by an organization approved by the U.S. Department of Education. See here. If using education to meet basic qualifications, YOU MUST SUBMIT A TRANSCRIPT as supplemental documentation.
- Combination: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for grade level GS-05, and may be computed by first determining the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level.

To qualify for a Supply Technician your resume and supporting documentation must support:
- A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To qualify at the GS-05 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
- Investigating a variety of errors such as incorrect issue/receipt transactions, improper or incomplete stock number changes, improper condition changes, duplicate shipments, erroneous inventory adjustments, and failure of warehouses to maintain accurate locator records, etc.
- Researching stock/record discrepancies and/or determines causes of record adjustments.

Physical Demands
In the performance of investigations, inventories and location surveys, the incumbent is required to research, survey and/or count all types of material, some which is heavy and bulky, stored on pallets, and some which is stored in high-level locations. Work may require operating MHE and handling, pushing and lifting items weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally up to 70 pounds. Depending on availability of equipment and depot location, may occasionally operate a bicycle, sedan, or pick-up truck to move between work sites.
Work Environment
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. The work environment involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, such as working around moving warehouse equipment, carts, or machines. Employees may be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, gowns, safety shoes, goggles, hearing protection, and gloves.
