About the role

This position coordinates and releases materials, meeting production planning objectives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Using SAP, create material releases and daily schedules to meet production and customer requirements. Provide support to both internal and external customers within the operation. Perform material planning and capacity planning activities required to support production demand and satisfy customer requirements. Maintain appropriate inventory levels and integrity in accordance with department goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily SAP system reviews and metric analysis to identify potential and actual material shortages, review order progress, material rejection, scrap, and rework; adjust plans and schedules as required by coordinating with appropriate manufacturing personnel and communicating changes to both functional and cross-functional team members.
  • Utilize capacity planning methods and SAP system to develop a schedule to optimize costs and efficiencies with respect to labor, materials, and machinery; communicate plans, schedules, changes, and modifications to both functional and cross-functional team members.
  • Responsible for ‘right sizing’ inventory for stable operations.
  • Expedite materials.
  • Responsible for phase-in and phase-out planning/support as requested.
  • Prepare production plan based on forecast requirements and company inventory guidelines.
  • Communicate material requirements to suppliers and the Purchasing department to facilitate inventory deliveries and manage push-outs and expedites to ensure components and services are available to meet production schedules.
  • Comply with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) duties as a condition of employment:
    • Comply with EHS rules.
    • Lead the work area with a safe culture mindset.
    • Support employees in their decision to shut down unsafe or environmentally damaging equipment or processes.
    • Ensure completion of EHS training by all employees.
    • Participate actively in the safety process.
    • Ask questions if something isn’t known.
    • Initiate an investigation on all accidents and injuries immediately.
    • Submit suggestions to improve EHS and take action on suggestions submitted by employees.
    • Act as emergency management coordinator for meeting locations and shelter areas; initiate accountability in the event of an emergency (e.g., what to do in the event of an alarm for fire, chemical spills, tornados, etc.).
    • Be a coach to others who are acting unsafely.
    • Ensure the completion of all hazardous and non-hazardous waste trainings.
    • Ability to recognize deficiencies in chemical labeling.
    • Coordinate minor spill management and clean-up.
    • Enforce satellite accumulation rules and requirements.
    • Recognize hazardous wastes in your area and manage properly.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent is preferred.
  • APICS certification preferred.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of successful experience in a production planning role.
  • Experience with SAP (preferred) or other MRP system.
  • Experience working directly with suppliers.
  • Capacity planning experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated successful experience using MRP systems; SAP experience is highly preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills required.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated success working in a fast-paced and demanding manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent analytical skills and flexibility to changing assignments.
  • Strong computer skills in Windows Office Suite (Access, Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Strong working knowledge of Bills of Materials and Routings.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing activities including purchasing, materials, inventory, quality, engineering basics, and production processes.
  • Highly organized, able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to achieve results through both functional and cross-functional communication and collaboration.

Pay

Salary range: $70,000 - $75,000 (determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and market alignment). This role offers a competitive bonus plan based on individual, group, and corporate performance, as well as a competitive benefits package.
