Summary of Job Duties
Under the general supervision of the Supply Chain Manager or Director, the Supply Coordinator assists in the development, implementation and communication of sustained quality and resource-optimized measures, during the intraoperative phase, and advises the management team in the Surgical and Supply Chain departments on operational improvement, cost containment, preference card development and supply utilization. This position requires a sound knowledge of supply chain movement and intraoperative clinical experience as well as strong communication skills and leadership abilities. Success will be measured by performance in five critical categories of activity: Preference card/loaded supply list maintenance, waste reduction, resource savings/optimization opportunities, surgeon on-boarding, and supply conversion facilitation.
Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor's degree or HS diploma plus 4 years of experience within hospital/healthcare environment with 2 years within inventory management
- Knowledge of special service area for understanding usage and critical nature
Responsibilities
- Rounds daily in the OR and Nursing Areas to communicate with surgeons/staff and obtain all updates to preference cards/supply needs
- Works collaboratively with Clinical Coordinators to maintain and update all preference cards/supply needs
- Works directly with surgery and Supply Chain to identify over- or under-used items after cases, for opportunities to decrease waste due to no use or expiring product
- Identifies cost effective materials/supplies, and, works with Supply Chain, OR Director and coordinators, to develop and implement plans to change where applicable
- Facilitates supplier/vendor changes that result in new or substitute products
- Works with Supply Chain, vendors, surgeons and OR staff to coordinate new product trials and conversion efforts in a logical manner
- Maintains a progress record pertaining to core activities for reporting and facilitating system-wide improvements
- Performs other duties as assigned
