Supply Chain Training Manager
About the role
The Supply Chain Training Manager oversees the entire Supply Chain onboarding and training process, focusing on new-hire's (Selectors & Drivers) first 90-days. They contribute to continuous improvement of safety, performance standards, engagement, and retention through learning and performance solutions.
Responsibilities
- Owns execution of warehouse training (classroom & on-the-job) for new Selectors & Drivers during the first 90-days of employment through coaching and mentoring Selector and Driver Trainers and when necessary.
- Leads a team of Supply Chain Trainers & New Hires through a multi-week onboarding period (first 90 days) as measured by various indicators (productivity, quality, reliability, safety, culture integration, job knowledge, retention).
- Directs and coordinates all aspects of onboarding and training including scheduling/assigning resources, conducting classroom & on-the-job training when Selector/Driver trainers are not available, performing observations, acting as SME on process & milestones and metric tracking/success measurements.
- Provides actionable performance, behavioral feedback and coaching in both classroom and on-the-job environments to trainers and new hires.
- Facilitates mentoring of new Selectors & Drivers to drive engagement through the onboarding process.
- Analyzes and tracks weekly Trainer’s & Associate’s performance (30/60/90-day milestones) to ensure expectations are met.
- Collects data to determine safety, effectiveness, retention, and sustainability of training for the continuous improvement of the program.
- Ensures both new and existing Associates are safely following preferred plays while meeting productivity goals.
- Partners with Vice President Operations, Directors, HR, and Supervisors/Managers to regularly check progress and performance of new selectors to uncover coaching opportunities and identify steps to improve performance.
- Attends and participates in all required routines including but not limited to: UMOS steering, labor planning, and others.
- Reports performance and retention data to HR and L&D while providing training recommendations and strategies based on trends.
- May consult in the interview, hire, performance review, discipline, and termination process in collaboration with the Vice President of Operations & HR to ensure all training needs are aligned, relevant, and delivered as expected (as needed).
- Regularly inspects facility for safety hazards and either resolves them or reports them to the safety manager as appropriate.
- Jointly accountable (with warehouse leadership) for maintaining the physical condition of the warehouse and its equipment.
- Performs all assigned duties for area markets, as needed/requested, which may require travel.
- Performs other duties as assigned by manager.
Supervision
Direct supervision of all Selector and Driver New Hires (~20 new hires at any given time) during their onboarding (Day 1 – Day 90). Market on-the-job Trainers, where applicable.
Relationships
- Internal: VPO, Directors, HR, and Supervisors/Managers, and Supply Chain Associates
- External: Training course vendors and regulatory compliance agencies, as applicable
Work Environment
- Inside/Outside of Distribution Centers, exposure to heat & cold (freezer & cooler)
- Internal Associate facing
- Travel via air & car (rental)
Qualifications
- Two years of training/facilitation experience
- One year experience overseeing a workforce
- Strong leadership, communication, and people development skills
Education
- High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- College degree
- Training/facilitation experience in a Supply Chain and/or Warehouse environment
- Prior experience and/or leadership/direct supervision in a Supply Chain/Warehouse environment
- Strong facilitation, leadership, communication, engagement, and development skills
- Broad knowledge of warehouse operations, methods, and procedures
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Access
- Familiarity with inventory control, OSHA, HAACP and other regulatory requirements
- PIT experience

Compensation
Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law (for example: state or local minimum wage thresholds).
Expected Base Rate
The expected base rate for this role is between $60,000 - $100,000.
