About the role
This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which includes Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. It involves leading supplier and teammate efforts to support the development of various spaceflight systems, interacting with customers and Programs to ensure development efforts and deliveries are on track, managing teams of Procurement Professionals, and ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and templates.
Responsibilities
- Manage teams of Procurement Professionals to create Statements of Work, develop negotiation approaches for contracts, and manage ongoing contracts for complex hardware.
- Support the policies, procedures, templates, and tools to drive consistency, accuracy, and compliance across Blue Origin Business Units.
- Ensure the placement and receipt of all material requirements to meet strategies and plans in support of program requirements, including complete material management and ownership (schedule, cost, and Material EAC).
- Negotiate contracts and ensure supply chain competitiveness and performance throughout the lifecycle of the Program.
- Own the supplier management process and communicate customer flow-through requirements to ensure supplier performance exceeds mission objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with 8 years of experience, or Master's degree with 6 years of experience in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related industry experience.
- Experience as a people manager, encouraging and supporting performance management activities, goal setting, career counseling, compensation planning, and employee training and/or talent development.
- Knowledge and experience in procurement and planning, MRP/ERP planning and transactions, BOM structures, and material estimating and Basis of Estimate creation.
- Track record of managing complex technology projects, including supplier NPI process, Supplier assessment of Technical Readiness and Manufacturing Readiness levels.
- Superior communication skills (written and verbal), leadership abilities, negotiation skills, and the ability to team in a cross-functional environment.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, manage trade-offs, and evaluate new ideas with internal and external partners.
- Demonstrated ability to work across disciplines with engineering, design, and project management counterparts to deliver online products/services.
- Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, including modeling with AI, creating supplier scorecards, and leveraging for fact-based decision making.
- Experience with and knowledge of defense acquisition, managing supplier program milestones congruent to program schedules, creating and maintaining systems and processes to streamline operations, developing and executing project plans within budget and schedule constraints, engaging with and influencing leadership teams, and demonstrating proficiency at creating models/tools, re-engineering business processes, and performing complex data analysis to improve profitability, cost structure by product group, and production volume attainment.
- Proven problem-solving skills, able to solve unique and complex problems with broad impact on the business; requires conceptual and innovative thinking to develop solutions.
- Occasional travel required.
