The What To Expect Supply Chain Manager (SCM) role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in demand planning, engineering, and development collaboration, and experience in managing complex supply chains. The SCM will focus on developing supply chains for critical minerals in the Anode space, working closely with product development teams from R&D to production.
What You'll Do
- Negotiate commercial agreements with supply chain partners such as GTC, PPA, license agreements, MTA, etc.
- Manage supplier relationships to secure the best deals for the company.
- Conduct market analysis to identify new suppliers and partnership opportunities.
- Lead large-scale supplier investment projects from idea to implementation.
- Lead make vs buy investigations and develop and execute long-term sourcing strategies based on analysis.
- Develop and utilize cost models to define should costs and negotiate prices for sourcing and cost reduction.
- Analyze current market conditions, technology roadmaps, and identify supply/demand challenges and opportunities.
- Drive the vendor selection process with engineering teams, including raw material specifications, vendor technology capabilities assessments, and alternative product options.
- Ensure that Tesla’s pricing meets best-landed-cost expectations and Supplier Industrialization standards of Best-In-Class quality.
What You'll Bring
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science or equivalent experience.
- Advanced degrees such as MS or PhD are preferred.
- 5+ years of work experience in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or Management Consulting.
- Prior experience with batteries and battery materials preferred.
- Dedication to Tesla’s mission of accelerating the transition to renewable energy.
- Strong team building skills in dealing with suppliers, peers, and other functional teams.
- Excellent communication and writing abilities to explain complex issues in a concise manner.
- Willingness to travel.
