Wood is seeking an experienced Supply Chain Manager to join our team in Greenville, SC. This role leads and manages a deployed supply chain project team, overseeing all aspects of supply chain management including materials management, warehousing, expediting, procurement, subcontracts, negotiation, and reporting.

About the role

The Supply Chain Manager directs and manages supply chain activities for specific projects, supervises assigned personnel, and ensures their competence and performance. The role requires a clear understanding of client head contract requirements and the ability to incorporate those into project supply chain strategies, plans, and terms. Strong knowledge of commercial terms and conditions is essential, along with the ability to negotiate robust commercial agreements. The manager regularly monitors and reports on project procurement progress, ensuring accurate reporting and escalating critical issues and risks to project management.

Responsibilities

  • Manages, directs, and supports a team engaged in the full range of supply chain activities, ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.
  • Accountable for the successful setup and delivery of all project supply chain processes, procedures, and activities.
  • Ensures supply chain activities align with the project execution plan/schedule, approved budgets, and project processes.
  • Prepares and issues the project-specific procurement execution plan, contracting strategy, and contract schedule in line with project scope, utilizing systems such as Oracle, AMUSE, and Materia.
  • Establishes and manages the project/procurement status report (PSR) to track lead times and notify delays to the project manager.
  • Chairs regular PSR meetings with clients, procurement, engineering, and project management personnel to ensure timely delivery of pre-order requirements.
  • Assigns workloads, establishes priorities, and reviews complex aspects of the supply chain workload.
  • Embeds client main contract terms, conditions, schedules, change control procedures, and commercial frameworks into supply chain activities.
  • Ensures all stakeholders understand both Wood’s and suppliers' contractual obligations and responsibilities.
  • Utilizes the Wood Approved Supplier Register (ASR) and project/client-approved supplier registers for supplier evaluation, audit, and selection.
  • Conducts supplier performance reviews and ensures corrective actions are taken where required.
  • Ensures compliance with the Wood Supply Chain Code of Conduct, statutory and legal requirements, and maintains fully auditable documentation.
  • Promotes safe working practices and demonstrates safety leadership.
  • Acts as a role model for Wood’s vision, values, and behaviors, embedding the Financial Management Framework across the business.
  • Implements robust performance management and development plans for the team, addressing gaps and managing succession planning.
  • Delivers against internal and external savings targets as per the business plan.

Requirements

  • Educated to ISCED Level 6 (Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent) in business studies, law, engineering, supply chain, or a similar discipline; CIPS qualified or industry equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 years of supply chain experience, demonstrating progression to a similar management position.
  • Experience with subcontract agreements, framework agreements, and industry-standard forms of subcontracts.
  • Proficiency in complex tactical procurement, logistics, and materials management.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and client contract requirements.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain principles and techniques.
  • Proven leadership, motivation, and development of teams and individuals.
  • Expertise in negotiating complex agreements and resolving disputes and claims.
  • Experience implementing project supply chain processes and procedures.
  • Skills in supplier relationship management, audit, and assurance.
  • Ability to lead complex tender activities through to completion and mobilize supply chain post-contract award.
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills.
  • Maintains a strong network within and outside the supply chain department.
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships with suppliers, clients, and other disciplines.
  • Strategic thinker contributing to project management and process improvements.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive attitude with inspiring leadership in pressurized environments.
  • Ability to work as part of a project management team and lead, manage, and motivate teams.
  • Identifies efficiency, process, and tool improvement opportunities and drives successful change.
