Job Summary

The Supply Chain Manager is a critical role responsible for overseeing and optimizing production planning master data, inventory management, third-party freight management, performance reporting, and process improvements for the oval supply plans while collaborating cross-functionally. The Supply Chain Manager plays a critical role in balancing operational efficiencies with customer satisfaction, cost control, and compliance with food safety standards while ensuring compliance with all legal and customer requirements.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and implement a supply chain strategy aligned with plant and corporate objectives.

  • Oversee the planning, inventory management, production scheduling, and logistics processes to meet business goals.

  • Partner with plant leadership to identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies in supply chain processes and implement corrective actions.

  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, inventory turnover, supply chain cost efficiency, and forecast accuracy.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance.

  • Ensure all supply chain activities comply with food safety standards and relevant regulations, including maintaining accurate and auditable records.

  • Prepare and support supply chain-related audits and corrective action plans as needed.

Budget Management

  • Oversee all supply chain activities to ensure efficiency, cost-effectiveness, timely and complete deliveries, safety, sanitation, employee relations, visual controls, and performance assessment against a defined budget.

  • Establish and manage supply chain budgets, setting goals and KPIs that align with company objectives to drive departmental performance.

  • Maintain departmental expenses within the defined budget for outbound freight, inbound freight, warehousing, trucking, and external warehouses.

  • Ensure adherence to company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, OSHA regulations, safety, and on-time delivery at the lowest possible cost.

  • Review and approve freight and fleet invoices for payment, ensuring accuracy and cost-efficiency.

Warehouse/Logistics

  • Supervise all logistics activities, including supply chain management (receiving, ordering, and storage), production scheduling, reception and storage of finished goods, and the preparation, shipping, and distribution of finished goods to customers.

  • Supervise distribution and shipping functions, ensuring efficient collaboration between shipping and freight carriers for timely truck arrivals, preparation, and departures.

Inventory

  • Collaborate with the appropriate stakeholders or team members to set inventory goals for finished goods and supplies necessary for manufacturing.

  • Oversee and optimize the usage of inventory to ensure efficient operations.

  • Proactively monitor inventory alerts and address exceptions promptly.

  • Oversee the management of supplies and finished goods inventories to maintain optimal stock levels.

  • Continuously monitor supply chain performance and recommend actionable plans to ensure production stability, achieve inventory targets, and maintain high levels of customer service.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the supply chain team, fostering a culture of accountability and innovation.

  • Ensure alignment of team objectives with overall plant and corporate goals.

  • Provide training and development opportunities for team members to encourage professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Management, Logistics, Production Management, or a related field is preferred.

  • A combination of relevant experience and education will also be considered.

  • Minimum of 5 years of Supply chain or Logistics (food industry preferred).

  • Proficiency in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems is required.

  • Proven experience working with cross-functional teams is required.

  • Preferred Skills:

    • Experience with Lean methodologies.

    • Project management skills, with a proven track record of successfully managing and delivering complex projects on time and within budget.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required.

    • Familiarity with integrated systems, particularly SAP.

    • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic plans for supply chain operations, including production planning, inventory management, and logistics.

    • Proficient in forecasting demand and aligning supply chain activities to meet business objectives and customer requirements.

    • Proficient in analyzing complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform strategic decision-making.
