On-siteManagement$150k–$190k/yrFull-time

About the role

We are seeking a Supply Chain Manager to serve as Alta’s hands-on owner of supply chain execution across both government and commercial programs. You will manage bills of materials, run supplier relationships, source new suppliers, place and manage purchase orders and subcontracts, and get material where it needs to be, when it needs to be there. You will work shoulder-to-shoulder with technical teams on technology transfer from lab to production scale, and partner with cross-functional teams across engineering, programs, business development, and finance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end procurement execution across government and commercial programs, including issuing, negotiating, and administering purchase orders and subcontracts in compliance with applicable flow-downs, FAR/DFARS and OTA requirements, and company policy.
  • Create, maintain, and control bills of materials (BOMs) in partnership with technical teams; manage revision control, material sourcing status, lead times, and cost roll-ups to support program schedules and budgets.
  • Manage the existing supplier base, including performance monitoring, delivery and quality issue resolution, pricing negotiations, and ongoing relationship management.
  • Identify, qualify, and onboard new suppliers to expand capacity, reduce cost and risk, and support new materials, equipment, and process requirements as the company scales.
  • Support technology transfer activities from lab to pilot to production scale, working directly with technical teams to translate process requirements into sourcing strategies, supplier capabilities, and material specifications.
  • Interface daily with technical teams, program management, business development, facilities, and finance to align supply chain execution with technical requirements, program milestones, and cost targets.
  • Organize and manage logistics and shipping, including inbound and outbound freight, carrier selection, customs and trade compliance coordination, packaging requirements, and receiving processes.
  • Establish and document supply chain policies, procedures, and tools from the ground up, including procurement workflows, supplier qualification and approval processes, inventory practices, and purchasing controls.
  • Contribute to commercial planning, including demand and material planning, make/buy analyses, cost estimating support for proposals, and long-range supplier and capacity strategy.
  • Execute at the tactical level daily, expediting critical materials, resolving shortages, and removing roadblocks, while building the scalable processes and supplier network Alta needs for growth.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Operations, or a related field.
  • 8-12 years of supply chain, procurement, and/or subcontracts experience spanning both government and commercial environments.
  • Hands-on experience issuing and managing purchase orders and subcontracts, including negotiation of terms, pricing, and delivery, and familiarity with FAR/DFARS and OTAs.
  • Demonstrated experience managing BOMs, including revision control and coordination with technical teams on part and material changes.
  • Proven track record managing supplier performance and sourcing, qualifying, and onboarding new suppliers.
  • Experience supporting technology transfer, new product introduction, or scale-up from R&D to production in a technical or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience organizing logistics and shipping, including freight, receiving, and material movement across sites and suppliers.
  • A bias for execution: comfortable doing tactical, hands-on work daily while establishing the policies, procedures, and systems that scale.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, growth-stage environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Authorized to work for ANY company in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certification such as CPSM, CSCP, CPIM, or NCMA certification.
  • Prior experience in aerospace, defense, deep tech, biotech/industrial biotechnology, or critical minerals sectors.
  • Experience building or scaling a supply chain or procurement function in a startup or growth-stage company.
  • Experience contributing to commercial planning, S&OP, or demand/material planning processes.
  • Working knowledge of export control (ITAR/EAR) considerations in procurement and shipping.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to lead a breakthrough program redefining U.S. supply chain resilience in critical materials.
  • A mission-driven, high-trust team operating at the intersection of innovation, national security, and sustainability.
  • High Impact & Visibility: direct interaction and reporting to executive leadership.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits package:
    • Starting salary range for this position is $150,000 to $190,000 annually, commensurate with educational background and work experience.
    • Benefits include: 401(K), Medical, dental, and vision plans, or equivalent, Paid parental leave, Paid sick leave, Flexible time off, Company holidays.
