Power Solutions International (PSI) is a leading manufacturer of emissions-certified powertrains specializing in customized and fully integrated turnkey solutions for global equipment manufacturers in the industrial, transportation, and energy markets. Our facilities span one million square feet across seven locations, supporting engineering, assembly, operations, and distribution.
About the role
Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Buyer Planner analyzes material demand, issues and manages purchase orders, and ensures operational needs are met while minimizing company asset commitment.
Responsibilities
- Issue and manage purchase orders, frequently reviewing the Material Requirement Planning (MRP) system.
- Develop and analyze statistical data on purchased parts, focusing on operational demand while minimizing asset commitment.
- Interact with Engineering teams to ensure parts meet new and existing design specifications.
- Cultivate, manage, and support vendor relationships, implementing global supplier strategies to improve quality, cost, service, and delivery.
- Leverage supplier relationships to meet procurement needs for PSI projects and customer drop-in orders.
- Manage part shortages, proactively communicating potential challenges to management and operations.
- Identify vendors, establish vendor standards and SLAs, and monitor performance for timely delivery, parts quality, and cost management.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or Supply Chain Management preferred; equivalent work experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
- Demonstrated success in an analytical role, managing a fast-paced, deadline-driven workload.
- Subject matter knowledge of the manufacturing supply chain.
- Tech-savvy with excellent MS Office skills (Microsoft Excel in particular), ideally paired with ERP/MRP software experience.
Qualifications
- 4-6 years of purchasing or materials planning experience.
- Strong cross-functional communication skills for internal stakeholders and suppliers.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Technical proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general Microsoft Office tools.
- Self-motivated with a willingness to take ownership of tasks beyond primary responsibilities.
- Previous purchasing or materials planning experience in assembly, manufacturing, or the automotive industry preferred.
- Experience with international suppliers and global logistics preferred.
- Fluency in Hindi preferred.
- EPICOR ERP system experience preferred.
