Responsibilities
- Source and purchase a wide range of electronic and mechanical components in alignment with BOM requirements.
- Own the NPI purchasing process, ensuring boards and components are procured and delivered for engineering test builds.
- Place, track, and manage purchase orders with contract manufacturers and suppliers; mitigate risks and recover schedule slips.
- Maintain inventory accuracy in systems (NetSuite, ION, etc.), including safety stock levels, consumption tracking, and vendor coordination.
- Perform receiving, inspection, and kitting of parts when required for critical builds.
- Collect, create, and analyze supply chain data—including purchase price variances (PPVs)—to identify savings and drive efficiency.
- Build and maintain spreadsheet models for BOMs, budgets, inventory tracking, and forecasting.
- Collaborate with engineering on DFM, BOM updates, and ECO integration to ensure seamless transitions from design to production.
- Partner with production, logistics, and finance teams to align material readiness with build schedules.
Requirements
- 3+ years of purchasing and supply chain experience in hardware-focused industries (space communications, aerospace, PCBAs, robotics, or similar).
- Proven ability to independently own and execute purchasing processes end-to-end.
- History of purchasing EEE components.
- Advanced Excel/Sheets skills (pivot tables, index-match, conditional formatting; VBA/scripts a plus).
- Strong data analysis capabilities and experience working with ERP/MRP systems (NetSuite, SAP, ION, or equivalent).
- Ability to interpret and manage multi-level BOMs and technical drawings.
- Professional communication skills with both suppliers and cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and prioritization skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
Desired Skills
- Experience in a startup or New Space environment where flexibility and speed are essential.
- Familiarity with PCB assembly processes and electrical components.
- Familiarity with IPC standards.
- Exposure to qualifying parts to MIL-STD-883 / 810 or NASA 8739 standards.
- Knowledge of environmental test flows (HTOL, vibration, thermal-vac).
