Supply Chain 2nd Shift Loader / Unloader

About the role

Employee must be willing and able to learn the operation of forklift trucks. The incumbent will learn how to unload bales of waste paper from trucks and railroad cars and stack waste paper in the warehouse in an orderly manner. The role also involves learning how to load rolls of paper on trucks and railcars and properly place or stack them in the finished paper warehouse. Maintaining housekeeping in the warehouses is a key responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Learn to safely operate forklifts and clamp trucks as a licensed mobile equipment operator
• Unload bales of waste paper from trucks and railroad cars and stack them in the warehouse
• Load rolls of paper on trucks and railcars and stack them in the finished paper warehouse
• Maintain housekeeping in assigned warehouse areas
• Pick up and safely dispose of broken bands, bale wires, and cut wires sticking out of bales
• Clean and sweep the warehouse and docks
• Enter paper roll and waste paper data into computers
• Assist in loading and unloading trucks and railcars
• Learn various grades of waste paper and finished rolls of paper
• Identify and understand contaminants in waste paper
• Follow all plant, department, and job-specific safety rules
• Report unsafe conditions, defective equipment, accidents, and injuries immediately
• Adhere to lock-out and operating procedures as outlined in the Plant’s Operating Manual and JSAs
• Participate in safety programs, including Safety huddles, USG stretching program, BBS, Take 5’s, incident investigations, inspections, and safety improvement ideas
• Support continuous improvement initiatives using 5S principles (Sort, Set-in-Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain)
• Understand and reference standard work categories, including process adherence tools (5S, Visual Job Aids, Job Plans, OBCs, PMs), training materials (VWIs, Job Breakdown Sheets), and leadership activities (Gemba Walks, Coaching)
• Perform all other duties as instructed by the Loading/Unloading Supervisor and Supply Chain Manager

Requirements

• Ability to perform essential physical requirements of the position (see Essential Physical Requirements form)
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to read, write, use a computer, and read a tape measure
• No significant performance or attendance infractions within the last 36 months
• Must be available to work 2nd shift
• Proactive approach to safety and housekeeping
• Ability to collaborate with supervisors, department leadership, and Safety Team representatives
• Completion of LEAD training and applicable advanced training courses

Pay

Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
