Supplier Quality Engineer, Principal (Remote)

U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract. This role is remote; however, candidates residing in California will be given priority consideration.

About the role

Manage Supplier Quality & Development processes and/or projects as an individual contributor at Collins Aerospace, a leader in technologically advanced, intelligent solutions for the aerospace and defense industry. This role supports the RTX supplier programs to ensure healthy continuous improvement and sustainability, with a major impact on the organization’s Supplier Quality & Development goals.

Responsibilities

• Manage supplier quality performance through prevention, monitoring/escalation processes, and processing of supplier submission of nonconforming material.
• Support supplier onboarding, qualification, and certification.
• Manage source inspection and material release processes.
• Perform escape management procedures, drive root cause analysis and problem-solving, and recommend corrective and preventive actions for systemic supplier process and product issues.
• Provide input and recommendations on supplier qualification, certification, assessment, monitoring, escape management, and quality issue resolution processes.
• Analyze quality data and develop part/supplier-specific quality issue resolution and corrective actions.
• Provide research and guidance for root cause analysis and problem-solving (Red-X & 8D) in escape management procedures.
• Develop corrective and/or preventive actions for systemic process and product design problems for supplier-provided products.
• Analyze quality data to identify systemic issues and develop supplier-specific quality initiative strategies using proactive quality tools (e.g., PFMEA, MSA, Process Flow and Control Plans, SPC).
• Manage processes and procedures for supplier qualification/certification, source inspection, material release, and Correction Action Boards/DQ Clinics with suppliers.
• Support the RTX Supplier Gold program and ZERO program to ensure continuous improvement and sustainability.
• Review processes and metrics to ensure suppliers meet requirements for work transfer, process change management, Resourcing Gate, and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) acceptance in accordance with AS9145 and Collins processes.
• Travel up to 50% to supplier sites.
• Manage relationships with internal stakeholders, such as IPT leaders, Programs, and Assembly Lines, including communication, customer/supplier relations, meetings, and improvement actions.

Requirements

• University Degree and minimum 8 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.
• 8+ years of professional experience in a combination of shop floor operations, Quality support, and a supply chain operations environment (monitoring, auditing, developing suppliers/operations) or equivalent.
• Strong background in electronics manufacturing (Components, CCAs, PWBs, harnesses).
• Knowledge and expertise in AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems, AS9145 Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), NADCAP Electronics Manufacturing special process requirements, ANSI ESD S.20.20 QMS.
• Experience in auditing/assessing, risk management, continuous improvement (Lean Six Sigma), PFMEA, Control Plan, and Measurement Systems Analysis creation and evaluation.
• Experience assessing and reviewing the maturity and robustness of suppliers’ manufacturing and supply chain processes to avoid disruptions.
• Monitor and analyze performance through Key Performance Indicators and organize supplier surveillance via audits, assessments, recovery plans, and industrial risk management with internal and external stakeholders.
• Management of Escape Events, NoEs, SRIs, FAIs, LAIs, and Deviations/Concessions analysis and recovery plans to ensure deliveries meet RTX requirements.
• Ability to travel up to 50% to supplier sites.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $107,500 - $204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
