SUPPLIER QUALITY ENGINEER 4

About the Role

Performs a variety of duties necessary for the ongoing operation of the supplier surveillance process. Will require collaboration and coordination with customers and other internal functions, including engineering, supply chain procurement, quality assurance, and manufacturing trades. This oversight will include interfacing with suppliers to:

• Oversee, review, and monitor manufacturing processes at supplier facilities.
• Audit the supplier's quality management system and technical capabilities.
• Perform related studies to help ensure that engineering and procurement specifications are met.
• Initiate and validate supplier corrective and preventive actions to drive resolution of problems discovered during supplier assessments.
• Help train and develop suppliers.

Candidate may also investigate or coordinate the investigation and resolution of material-related non-conformances, and interface with internal Procurement and Engineering functions to facilitate the development and communication of part ordering requirements.

Requirements

Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

• Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant exempt experience.
• Master’s Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience.
• Ph.D. and 4 years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in an engineering design environment.
• Experience in a Supplier Quality role or environment.
• Experience with shipyard waterfront operations.
• Experience in manufacturing or process engineering.
• Auditing experience.
• Project management or leadership experience.
• Technical writing and customer relations skills.
• Six Sigma and/or Lean training or certification.

Pay

The anticipated salary range for this role is $124,000.00 to $153,000.00. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.

Schedule

• Full-Time, 1st shift.

• Travel required: 10%-25% of the time.
