Job Summary
The Supplemental Speech Pathologist evaluates and rehabilitates patients with communication and oral-pharyngeal disorders, facilitating their communication and swallowing abilities. They document findings, provide instruction, and assist in program development and mentoring.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited university-based Speech/Language pathology program with a Master's degree in Speech/Language Pathology
- Current license to practice speech/language pathology by the State Board of Examiners for Speech Pathology and Audiology for Texas
- Current certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
- Current Certification in Basic Life Support
Experience / Knowledge / Skills
- One (1) year of experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to mentor/train staff or supervise clinical interns
- Provides clinical leadership and enhances clinical programs for patient types
- Serves as a clinical resource for hospital and/or system committees
- Designs and implements staff development programs
Principal Accountabilities
- Assumes responsibility in the care of the patient
- Performs comprehensive evaluations and develops treatment plans based on findings
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, and colleagues
- Documents findings and treatments accurately
- Serves as a clinical instructor for speech interns
- Manages time effectively and adheres to Memorial Hermann policies and procedures
- Promotes professional growth and contributes to departmental goals
- Ensures safe care and promotes compassionate experiences
