Duties
- Assures staff make the appropriate eligibility determinations for transportation and beneficiary travel reimbursements for healthcare visits
- Modifies processes when needed and evaluates the ongoing operational flow of the Beneficiary Travel (BT) program
- Performs training for staff on a variety of transportation management and patient related software
- Collaborates with others for transportation workload forecasting, scheduling design, procedure development, and quality improvement implementation
- Manages program operations to identify and define requirements for the use of automated systems when dispatching and routing drivers
- Promotes the enhancement and facilitation of access to transportation services, including the integration and coordination of services
- Maintains contact with clinical personnel and other staff in various clinic settings to resolve delays and misunderstandings in the medical administrative aspects of providing medical care
- Investigates patient complaints on travel eligibility issues and prepares written responses
- Maintains in-depth training to ensure that Medical Administration Service (MAS) and other identified Medical Center staff are educated and accountable for data management as it relates to the Beneficiary Travel Program
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Specialized experience: Applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-7) in Federal Service that has given you the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of a Supervisory Transportation Assistant GS-8.
- Specialized experience includes managing transportation program operation; overseeing transportation staff; developing, adapting, and implementing policies and plans to support transportation services; assessing transportation productivity, effectiveness, and efficiency of program operations; performing workload forecasting; dispatching and routing drivers; analyzing and resolving problems; and communicating with a range of individuals.

Physical Requirements
- This is primarily a sedentary position, but the work requires some walking, bending, stooping, and carrying of light objects such as manuals, documents, etc.
- Concentration and sustained performance under prolonged stress is required because of the time factors involved in completion of work assignments within deadlines.
Physical Demands
- Full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week.
- All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates.
- Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
