Supervisory Senior Staff Attorney
About the role
As a Supervisory Senior Staff Attorney at American Family Insurance, you will supervise outside counsel in managing complex cases. Reporting to a senior manager in litigation, you will handle litigation involving both the corporation and its insureds within established guidelines and codes of professional responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Handle litigation involving the corporation and/or its insureds within established corporate guidelines and the applicable code of professional responsibility.
- Analyze files as litigation progresses, evaluate cases, and seek settlements as necessary.
- Oversee outside counsel throughout the litigation of complex claims.
- Review motions and briefs during the course of litigation and provide necessary feedback.
- Conduct legal research as required.
- Observe court hearings and trials as necessary.
- Stay current on state statutes and court decisions and analyze how these affect the interpretation and enforceability of policy provisions.
- Supervise litigation with a higher complexity across multiple lines of business.

- Coverage experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
- Demonstrated experience preparing civil pleadings, motions, and discovery and deposing witnesses.
- Demonstrated litigation experience.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of rules of Professional Responsibility for the jurisdiction in which they practice.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of tort, contract, and insurance law.
- Admitted to the state bar in the state where they are located.
- Juris Doctor degree.
Qualifications

Pay
The position's compensation range is $113,000.00 - $194,000.00, with pay rate type being salary. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.
