Supervisory Senior Staff Attorney

About the role

As a Supervisory Senior Staff Attorney at American Family Insurance, you will supervise outside counsel in managing complex cases. Reporting to a senior manager in litigation, you will handle litigation involving the corporation and/or its insured within established guidelines and the applicable code of professional responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Handle litigation involving the corporation and/or its insured within established corporate guidelines and the applicable code of professional responsibility
• Analyze file as litigation progresses. Evaluate cases and seek settlement as necessary
• Oversee outside counsel throughout litigation of complex claims
• Review motions and briefs during the course of litigation and provide necessary feedback
• Conduct legal research as necessary
• Observe court hearings and trials as necessary
• Stay current on state statutes and court decisions and analyze how these affect the interpretation and enforceability of policy provisions
• Supervise litigation with a higher complexity across multiple lines of business

• Coverage experience preferred
• Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service
• Demonstrated experience preparing civil pleadings, motions, and discovery and deposing witnesses
• Demonstrated litigation experience
• Solid knowledge and understanding of rules of Professional Responsibility for the jurisdiction in which they practice
• Solid knowledge and understanding of tort, contract, and insurance law
• Admitted to the state bar in the state where they are located
• Juris Doctor

Qualifications

Experience in handling complex litigation cases, including but not limited to auto, property, and workers' compensation. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Skills

Strong legal research and writing skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and the ability to work effectively under pressure. Experience with case management systems and familiarity with relevant state statutes and court decisions.

$113,000.00 - $194,000.00

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.
