SUPERVISORY PRODUCTION SUPERINTENDENT

About the role

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY PRODUCTION SUPERINTENDENT in the Naval Foundry & Propeller Center (NFPC) (Future Code 40B of NFPC in FY27) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. Duties include managing second line supervisors, developing work processes, ensuring equipment maintenance, serving as technical authority, implementing policy, and integrating efforts to achieve goals.

Responsibilities

• Manage second line supervisors of all trade work at NFPC.
• Develop and execute work processes ensuring the delivery of NFPC's products.
• Ensure proper maintenance of equipment.
• Serve as the highest technical authority for all trade matters.
• Implement Foundry policy and integrate efforts to accomplish goals and objectives.

Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
• New employees to the Department of the Navy must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
• Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
• Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance.
• Work involves exposure to potentially harmful physical and chemical agents.
• Required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• May be required to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• May require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and remote or isolated sites.
• May require wearing personal protective equipment.
• Supervisors must adhere to the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct.

Qualifications

• At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
• Experience managing personnel, including planning and assigning work, setting priorities, advising employees of program goals and objectives, and making decisions on work problems.
• Experience in workload planning systems with the ability to analyze, evaluate, and adjust multi-trade manpower resources, equipment, and facilities against concurrent production schedules.
• Experience operating in an industrial environment, preferably in a foundry and/or large machine shop.
• Experience managing multiple levels of shop supervisors and trades personnel.
• Experience identifying workload requirements and needed process improvements or facility modifications for higher-level review.
