About the role

This position is located within the Great Plains Area (GPA) at the Rosebud Service Unit (RSU) under the supervision of the Deputy Chief Nurse Executive (DCNE). The Outpatient Nurse Supervisor is a registered nurse (RN) and is responsible for supervision, direction and leadership for nursing staff being licensed and non-licensed employees.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and monitors outpatient operations and patient care to ensure processes and policies are followed for employee performance and patient dispositions.
  • Documents observations, interventions, referrals, and other measures taken to provide services.
  • Develops and maintains nursing schedule for department, adjusting schedule as needed.
  • Ensures departmental compliance with employee health requirements.

Qualifications

  • A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required.
  • Licensure: Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) and possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • At least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-9) in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
    • Experience with implementation and oversight of quality nursing care, and the ability to perform the full spectrum of supervisory personnel management.
    • Enforces all appropriate standards including but not limited to those of the Joint Commission, Center for Medicare and Medicaid Service (CMS) conditions of participation.
    • Collaborates with Chief Nurse Executive in the nursing documentation analysis, evaluation and program planning including development of staff education and skills competence activities.
