About the role
The Supervisory Museum Curator serves as a key leader at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum, a part of the National Archives and Records Administration. This role oversees the museum’s operations, including exhibit planning, collection management, and public engagement.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the planning, design, construction, and installation of exhibits.
- Evaluate museum objects offered as gifts and recommend acceptance or rejection.
- Supervise managerial and administrative activities such as budgeting, personnel management, space allocation, procurement, and security.
- Set technical policies for museum operations and ensure the physical care, maintenance, preservation, and security of collections.
- Provide information about museum objects and programs to various stakeholders, including the President's family, the Foundation, the White House, professional museums, the media, and the general public.
Requirements
- One year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, including supervising or leading a team or project in museum programs, conducting collections-based research and management, and leading exhibits and presentations using museum collections.
- One year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, including conducting collections-based research and management, supporting exhibits and presentations for museum collections, and providing oral or written responses to public inquiries.
Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
- Specialized experience for GS-13: Supervising or leading a team or project in museum programs; conducting collections-based research and management; leading exhibits and presentations using museum collections.
- Specialized experience for GS-12: Conducting collections-based research and management; supporting exhibits and presentations for museum collections; providing oral or written responses to public inquiries.
