About the role
The incumbent serves as the "mwrma" system administrator for 14 installations in the Mid-Atlantic region, responsible for managing and supporting various information systems and command and control systems.
Responsibilities
- Defines strategic direction of NAF FFR information systems and operations.
- Supports Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Navy (DON) and Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) strategy.
- Provides management and operational support, supervisory oversight, administrative control, and coordination of the MIS program.
- Advises and guides on NAF MIS and cybersecurity matters.
- Led and guides the implementation and maintenance of CNIC NAF Point of Sale (POS) and operational support systems.
- Ensures operational support activities and staff are knowledgeable about systems.
- Reviews and evaluates computerized and manual systems.
- Directs information and data integrity for NRMA NAF programs.
- Manages and directs work to be accomplished by staff.
- Conducts annual performance reviews of staff.
- Makes hiring/staffing decisions.
- Ensures staff receive proper training.
- Addresses potential disciplinary and/or performance issues.
- Serves as a systems administrator/technician for all computer and telecommunication systems.
- Performs account management, system monitoring, data backup, and software/hardware maintenance.
- Supervises up to seven MIS staff.
- Directs work to be accomplished by staff.
- Assigns work based on priorities, difficulty, and requirements of assignments, and staff capabilities.
- Conducts annual performance reviews of staff.
- Makes hiring/staffing decisions.
- Ensures staff receive proper training.
- Addresses potential disciplinary and/or performance issues.
- Supports CNIC's EEO policy.
- Fosters a work environment free of discrimination, harassment, and/or reprisal.
- Ensures all subordinate staff understand and adhere to the policy.
- Ensures treatment of all staff is fair and equitable.
- Represents NRMA in development of FFR IT policy, standards, and practices as a voting member of the CNIC FFR IT Working Group (FFR ITWG).
- Performs hardware and software installs, upgrades, and patches.
- Works closely with vendors, program managers, N6 staff, and users to resolve issues and ensure successful project implementations.
- Acts as a point of contact (POC) for implementation of new IT based projects.
- Designs audit routines to test and validate data integrity.
- Responsible for physical inventory of all hardware and software.
- Maintains proficiency in all MWR computer systems.
- Monitors maintenance contracts for renewal and submits Purchase Requests for support as required.
- Documents and analyzes currently deployed NAF information systems.
- Performs routine assessments.
- Ensures all appropriate forms and documentation are on file.
- Maintains 24-hour server operations, network monitoring, 24-hour internet availability, disaster recovery, application software acquisition and implementation, NMCI compliance, change management, and help desk operations.
- Provides management oversight for FFR Purchase Card Industry and FFR Business network contracts.
- Obtains approval from all required sources.
