About the role

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONICS INTERNAL SHOP MANAGER in the Electrical/Electronics Shop (Code 950) Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900), of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Responsibilities

  • Determine total Resources requirements and allocation based on schedules and work sequence.
  • Cookordination and modification of the work plan to integrate with systems and work in other zones.
  • Identification and resolution of changing work situations which result in conflicts in work schedule due to sequence, space, mutually exclusive work, material, growth work, and other considerations.
  • Ensuring safe work practices are followed.
  • Initiation or attendance of meetings concerning work status.
  • Evaluation of work performance of subordinates, as well as implementation of disciplinary measures when necessary.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Must be determined suitable for a security clearance.
  • Must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics.

Qualifications

  • At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
  • Experience managing a project or portion of a project which involves directing federal wage system and general schedule employees.
  • Experience in project management, quality control, cost control, schedule control, and workflow control techniques.
  • Experience demonstrating administrative knowledge of production trade work and technical methods, procedures, materials, and processes associated with the repair and overhaul of complex Navy vessels, with a specialized knowledge of Electrical/Electronic practices and operations sufficient to review, approve and direct work operations.
  • Experience demonstrating knowledge of personnel management and ability to supervise.
