Supervisor- Youth Care
About the role
To ensure the implementation of each Youth’s Individual Treatment Plan (ITP), actively involve Youth Care Workers in the implementation of youths' educational, employment, and treatment goals, monitor all program communication (log entries, incident reports, phone/written communication to supervisors, families, and external bodies), provide supervision for staff, youth, and the milieu/grounds, and ensure adequate 24-hour coverage of the program.
In this role, you will support and implement the policy and philosophy of the Agency and program, demonstrate a commitment to personal and professional growth, participate in supervision meetings, and train new Youth Care Staff while monitoring compliance with HR-required trainings and paperwork.
You will provide weekly supervision to Youth Care Workers, offer support and feedback, conduct performance evaluations, and use progressive discipline when necessary. You will ensure team members are trained in and apply the Mercy Model in their work with youth, families, and coworkers, and align with the Agency’s treatment philosophies, modalities, and practices.
You will be responsible for or accessible to advise on de-escalation and behavior management techniques as outlined in Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) protocol, work collaboratively with other Youth Program departments, ensure Youth Care coverage for all shifts, and maintain flexibility with your schedule when necessary.
Responsibilities

- Demonstrate commitment to personal and professional growth through training and participation in supervision meetings.
- Train new Youth Care Staff and monitor ongoing compliance with HR-required trainings and paperwork.
- Provide weekly supervision to Youth Care Workers, including support, feedback, performance evaluations, and progressive discipline.
- Ensure team members are trained in and practically apply the Mercy Model in their work with youth, families, and coworkers.
- Learn, align with, and execute the treatment philosophies, modalities, and practices of the Agency.
- Be responsible for or accessible to advise on de-escalation and behavior management techniques as outlined in CPI protocol.
- Work collaboratively with other Youth Program departments.
- Ensure Youth Care coverage for all shifts and maintain flexibility with your schedule when necessary.
- Hold staff accountable for their responsibilities.
- Read, analyze, and interpret professional periodicals, journals, or governmental regulations.
- Promote, support, and role model the use of CPI theory and practice for all coworkers in de-escalating situations.
- Commit to the mission, values, and goals of the Agency.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required; or at least 5 years of Mercy Home residential experience with demonstrated competence in the Mercy Model of Care and Program leadership.
- Master’s Degree preferred in psychology, social work, sociology, or an acceptable Human Services Degree as determined by DCFS rule 401.
- Experience working in a residential setting or a high-energy work environment with staff and youth.
- Ability to work two to three nights per week until at least 9:00 p.m. or 9:30 p.m., depending on program needs.
- Ability to be on-call (shared responsibility with Program Manager) to support program needs.
- Experience in residential treatment.
- Possess a valid Illinois driver’s license, ability to drive a van, maintain a clear driving record, and retain driving approval through the Department of Children and Family Services.
- Regular and predictable attendance.

- Ability to attend required Agency trainings (including CPR/First Aid and CPI Training) and maintain necessary training compliance.
- Flexibility to attend daytime trainings or sessions outside of regularly scheduled hours.
Pay
Pay range is between $57,000-$58,000/year.
Schedule
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, with a minimum of 3 nights until 9:00 p.m. (rotating on-call schedule).
