Supervisor-Volunteer Services (Non-Exempt)

About the Role

This position oversees the daily functions of the Mercy Hospice Volunteer Program and all volunteers. Under the supervision of leadership, you will coordinate all volunteer programs, including interviewing, orientation, assignment, ongoing development, and counseling of volunteers as needed.

You will develop and schedule events, training sessions, and meetings for volunteers, as well as create new and innovative ways to utilize volunteers within the Mercy Hospice program. This role involves communicating with the extended hospice leadership team and the hospice IDG to share suggestions for volunteer use, encourage established volunteer practices, and solicit ideas on how volunteers can best support Mercy’s Mission and Values within the Hospice department.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the Mercy Hospice Volunteer Program, including volunteer interviewing, orientation, assignment, and ongoing development.
• Provide counseling and support to volunteers as needed.
• Develop and schedule events, training sessions, and meetings for volunteers.
• Create innovative ways to utilize volunteers within the Mercy Hospice program.
• Collaborate with hospice leadership and the IDG to share suggestions for volunteer use and gather input on supporting Mercy’s Mission and Values.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven superior customer service experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Professional and courteous interaction with patients, visitors, co-workers, and leaders.
• Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
• Familiarity with Mercy Hospice Programs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Experience in coordinating volunteer services.
• Supervisory experience.
• Prior Mercy experience.
• Knowledge of volunteer management practices.
