SUPERVISOR, TUNNELS AND TUBES

Multiple positions available in San Mateo County. Permanent, full-time role.

About the role

Under the supervision of a Superintendent Tunnels and Tubes, the employee uses independent judgment within prescribed guidelines. Routine work is subject to general review, with closer supervision and review in complex or difficult situations, such as costly equipment failure or emergencies requiring facility closure. The employee serves as the ranking officer on duty for Caltrans District 04 after regular working hours.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a crew responsible for the operation and maintenance of ventilation, water pumping equipment, electrical systems, lighting, and traffic control devices in a vehicular tunnel or tube.

Requirements

• Valid and unrestricted Class C driver’s license.
• Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Supervisor, Tunnels and Tubes exam. Candidates without current eligibility (e.g., new to state civil service) must be on the state examination list. Apply for the exam here.
• For experience/education to qualify, applicants must include all employment history on the application (STD 678), including detailed job descriptions, hours worked per week, and start/end dates (MM/DD/YYYY).
• If basing eligibility on education, unofficial transcript(s)/diploma must be provided. Applicants with foreign transcripts/degrees must include a U.S. equivalency evaluation report from NACES or AICE.

Pay

$6,745.00 - $7,839.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired at the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

Schedule

Full-time, in-office role. Closed on weekends and state holidays.
