About the role

The position is located at Freeport Vocational Center, Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with a flexible 35-hour schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in rehabilitation counseling or human services field, with a preference for a Master’s degree.
• A minimum of one (1) year of experience in supported employment services or vocational rehabilitation field.
• A minimum of five (5) years of experience supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• A minimum of two (2) years of supervisory or management experience in human services.
• A valid and qualified New York State Driver’s License, along with maintaining it during employment.
• Completion of Defensive Driving, POM, and CPR training, also maintained during employment.
• Good leadership, team-building, written, and oral communication skills, as well as proficiency in all Microsoft applications.

Primary duties and responsibilities

• Directly supervise the Supported Employment Staff (Employment Training Specialists) and Job Coaches to ensure services are delivered and supports the Supported Employment Department in the administration of services.
• Work cooperatively with ACCES-VR, OPWDD, and employers to coordinate and deliver services and ensure the successful continuation of workers placed in competitive employment.
• Provide assistance to people enrolled in AHRC services who are referred for help in identifying obstacles that prevent independence, integration, and inclusion in employment and the community at large.
• Counsel and educate people supported on work adjustment concerns.
