About the Role

This full-time position supervises sterile processing and instrument delivery processes within Dr. P. Phillips Hospital, a 285-bed facility recognized as a “Best Regional Hospital” by U.S. News & World Report and one of the “Best Places to Work in Healthcare” by Modern Healthcare. The hospital specializes in diagnostic imaging, cardiovascular care, orthopedic care, surgical services, and emergency medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Directs activities related to all aspects of instrument delivery and on-site sterilization processes.
  • Assists in departmental work processes, ensuring safe and cost-effective packaging, sterilization, transportation, storage, and aseptic presentation of instrumentation.
  • Oversees ongoing sterilization efficacy testing to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Represents corporate and departmental services positively and maintains professionalism under stress.
  • Manages human resources to achieve quality services and positive employee relations, including hiring, work assignments, coaching, and performance counseling.
  • Communicates effectively interdepartmentally and intradepartmentally to ensure information sharing for daily operations.
  • Works with the educator to provide ongoing on-site education based on individual and departmental needs.
  • Coordinates staffing needs, reviews coverage requirements daily, and assists in interviewing, evaluating, and coaching team members.
  • Coordinates operating activities with other departments as necessary.
  • Adopts a proactive approach to anticipate and prevent potential departmental problems.
  • Maintains regular, punctual attendance in compliance with Orlando Health policies and federal, state, and local standards.
  • Ensures compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or four (4) years of directly related work experience (in addition to the experience requirements listed below).
  • Maintains one of the following certifications:
    • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) through Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA); or
    • Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL) through the International Association of Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM); or
    • SPD Technician Certification (CSPDT) through the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD); or
    • Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Manager (CSPDM) through the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD); or
    • Certified in Sterile Processing Management (CSPM) through the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD).
  • Three (3) years of directly related work experience with a working knowledge of sterile processing processes.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday, with start times varying between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM.
