Supervisor, Skilled Nursing - BSP

About the Role

Bishop Spencer Place is seeking a Supervisor to provide clinical oversight of our Skilled Nursing, Traditional Assisted Living, and Memory Care Assisted Living units. This role includes direct supervision of Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) and participation in an on-call rotation every third week.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Nursing in organizing and directing the day-to-day functions of the Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living units.
• Serve as interim Director of Nursing in their absence.
• Conduct nursing rounds and provide direct nursing support to residents.
• Perform administrative duties such as completing reports, medical forms, and charting.
• Participate in an on-call rotation every third week, including weekends.

Staff Management

• Provide direct supervision to Certified Nursing Assistants, Restorative Aids, Certified Medication Technicians, and Level 1 Medication Aides.
• Assist with the selection of new staff by reviewing applications and interviewing candidates.
• Arrange employee orientation and ensure new staff are properly trained.
• Monitor employee performance and competencies.
• Conduct staff performance evaluations and provide feedback.
• Ensure proper scheduling to meet staffing objectives.

Clinical Education

• Provide education leadership and evaluation for skilled areas, including non-nursing staff.
• Educate staff on policies, procedures, and legal requirements in the clinical setting.
• Train and evaluate staff on technical competencies and new equipment.
• Manage the online learning program through Relias Learning, including assigning compliance courses.
• Prepare staff for state surveys and ensure compliance with training requirements.

Infection Prevention and Quality Assurance

• Identify, investigate, monitor, and report healthcare-associated infections within skilled units.
• Collaborate with management and staff to create and sustain infection prevention strategies.
• Collect data for risk management and quality improvement purposes.
• Report healthcare-associated infections or outbreaks to local and state health departments.
• Assist with the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
• Serve as the community infection preventionist.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
