Essential Duties
- Supervises and coordinates activities of production employees directly or through Team-leaders.
- Ensures that Team boards are updated daily with effective and clear measures of communication.
- Performs discipline of staff as necessary by fully understanding and properly implementing company handbook policies re: attendance and categories of conduct.
- Captures and communicates production schedules to Sales team regarding reduced schedules due to scrap.
- Works with Engineering to pursue inquiries related to the process to correctly produce parts and tracks continuous improvement ideas from staff.
- Issues hold-tags, clarifies prints, and inspects forms as needed for Quality control.
- Tracks shortages, past due Purchase Orders (POs), and facilitates employee requests and MROs with Purchasing.
- Reviews machine statistics, follows up on open maintenance requests, and gathers updates on preventative maintenance with Maintenance.
Requirements
- High school diploma and six to nine years metal fabrication experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education or experience are required.
- Working knowledge of punching, laser cutting, plasma-cutting, burning, forming, welding, machining, and painting.
- Bachelor's or associate degree preferred.
- Computer literacy is required, may receive instruction on-the-job.
- Leverage of Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.
Qualifications
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
- Occasionally required to walk, climb and/or bend.
- Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
