Responsibilities
- Lead and continuously improve safety and training programs
- Develop engaging curriculum and conduct training sessions
- Conduct safety audits and identify opportunities for improvement
- Observe work practices in the field and provide guidance
- Investigate and resolve accidents, coordinate insurance communications, and manage claims
- Mentor, coach, and guide employees through hands-on learning experiences
- Partner with operational leaders to strengthen performance and safe work practices
- Spend time in the field to observe and improve safety measures
- Support hiring, coaching, training, scheduling, and performance management
- Promote a positive, fair, and inclusive work environment
Requirements
- Associates Degree in Business, Occupational Safety & Health, or related field
- Minimum eight years experience in electric utility line work, including three years in a safety department, safety training department, or relevant work experience
- Expert knowledge of corporate safety practices and procedures, principles of basic electricity, and first aid
- Expert knowledge of OSHA requirements
Skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of distribution feeds and circuits and switches
- Demonstrated proficiency in both underground and overhead line construction, live-line maintenance, climbing poles, and working from a bucket
- High standard for safety through knowledge and leadership of current safety requirements
- Excellent oral and written communication and motivation skills
- Excellent public speaking and presentation skills
- Proficient with MS Office Products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Ability to handle confidential information and handle member complaint calls professionally
- Valid Class A Commercial Georgia driver’s license and relevant endorsements
- Certified as a trainer of trenching, shoring, flagging, forklift, medic first aid and CPR, and Manual Uniform Traffic Control Devices Instructor
- Integrated Transmission System (ITS) Operator’s Certification
- Certified Utility Safety Professional - CUSP Green Certification
- Designated Employee Representative (DER) certification within 1 year of hire date
- Certified Loss Control Professional (CLCP) certification within 5 years of hire date
- Complete Northwest Lineman College apprentice program within 5 years of hire date
Qualifications
- Working knowledge of workers’ compensation and general liability claims
Skills (Preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Occupational Safety & Health, or a related field
