Safety and Compliance Supervisor
Key Responsibilities
- Lead company-wide safety initiatives and promote a culture of safety throughout the organization.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, and company safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct routine safety audits, inspections, and facility assessments.
- Identify workplace hazards and recommend corrective actions to reduce risk.
- Maintain safety records, regulatory documentation, and compliance reporting.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of company safety programs.
Fleet Safety Management and DOT compliance
- Maintain driver qualification files and DOT compliance records.
- Monitor driver eligibility, MVR reviews, Hours of Service, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate drug and alcohol testing programs.
- Conduct fleet safety audits and investigate vehicle accidents.
- Oversee fleet safety initiatives, including preventative maintenance, vehicle compliance, leasing support, and vendor coordination.
- Partner with Operations leadership to improve driver safety performance and reduce preventable accidents.
Warehouse and Millwork Safety
- Conduct warehouse and millwork safety inspections.
- Oversee forklift certification and recertification programs.
- Ensure compliance with lockout/tagout, machine guarding, PPE, and equipment safety requirements.
- Partner with supervisors to identify workplace hazards and promote safe work practices.
- Support employee engagement in company safety initiatives.
Worker's Compensation and Injury Management
- Serve as the primary safety contact for workplace injury reporting and investigations.
- Conduct accident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Partner with Human Resources, managers, employees, and insurance carriers to manage workers' compensation claims.
- Maintain OSHA logs and injury-related documentation.
Training and Employee Development
- Conduct new hire safety orientation and ongoing employee safety training.
- Develop and facilitate safety training programs, toolbox talks, and safety communications.
- Coach employees and supervisors on safe work practices and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain training records and required compliance documentation.
Corrective Action Support
- Investigate safety violations, workplace incidents, accidents, and near-miss events to determine root causes.
- Partner with management and Human Resources regarding appropriate corrective actions related to safety policy violations and unsafe work practices.
- Partner with management and Human Resources to develop safety-related corrective action plans.
- Monitor completion of corrective actions and provide follow-up recommendations.

Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED Required.
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, Business, Transportation, Operations Management, or appropriate job experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years experience in safety, transportation and/or risk management.
- Experience with OSHA, DOT, and FMCSA regulations required.
- Experience managing workers' compensation claims, accident investigations, and return-to-work programs preferred.
- Experience in developing and delivering employee safety training.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Tenstreet.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Certifications
- OSHA 30 Certification.
- First Aid/CPR Certification.
- Forklift Trainer Certification.
- DOT Compliance Training.
- Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Director of Safety (CDS), or a comparable safety certification preferred, but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to travel to BPI branch locations as needed.
- Ability to work in warehouse, transportation, manufacturing, and outdoor environments.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to conduct facility inspections, ride-alongs, and accident investigations in various working conditions.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid driver's license.
