Supervisor - Retail

About the role

Assists the management team in the daily operations of the store. Daily duties include some management functions, opening/closing store, overseeing production/retail operations, and ensuring staff follows all policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Ensures excellent customer service is provided to customers and donors.
• Provides leadership, guidance, training, and professional development in a positive environment to motivate staff, increase productivity, and achieve departmental goals.
• Engages the staff and creates a positive work environment where employment relationship matters are minimized.
• Assists in preparing performance evaluations, 5-minute goal-setting conversations, and work schedules.
• Responsible for maintaining store/department in a clean, safe, and organized fashion with merchandise appropriately displayed.
• Documents and reports any concerns or issues in a prompt and timely manner to management.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Supports the implementation of organizational initiatives such as 4DX methodology.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
• One year of supervisory experience.
• Retail experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills: email, internet use, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
• Ability to operate an electronic cash register.
• Understanding of basic retail principles: stocking, merchandise flow, quotas, cash handling, bank deposit procedures, and sales reports.
• Ability to work with simple arithmetic (addition, subtraction, fractions, percentages, etc.).
• Ability to calculate figures related to cash handling (e.g., change, discounts).
• Ability to read and understand sales reports.

Qualifications

• Having a CA Driver’s License, a driving record acceptable to Goodwill’s insurance company requirements, and an insured reliable vehicle is preferred.
