About the role

The Respiratory Therapy Clinical Supervisor is a registered respiratory therapist responsible for promoting quality care, overseeing department operations, and leading the respiratory therapy team.

Responsibilities

  • Defines operational standards and organizes department-level activities to achieve optimal service delivery/systems/care/processes.
  • Holds self and others accountable to meet stated objectives, adhering to standards even in unforeseen circumstances.
  • Performs supervisory functions on behalf of the respiratory therapy department.
  • Ensures staff provides good customer service according to departmental and company standards.
  • Demonstrates professional development and leadership related to the role and its impact within the RT department and hospital wide.
  • Maintains assigned staff's adherence to standards of care and licensure requirements.
  • Prioritizes and coordinates daily work activities, provides leadership and guidance, trains and oversees employees, conducts performance management, and participates in personnel actions.
  • Ensures cost-effective use of resources by managing staff allocation and supplies, ensuring compliance with quality assurance, safety practices, policies, and recordkeeping standards, and assisting with business plans and budget development.
  • Supervises and performs respiratory therapy treatments, sets up and operates devices, administers therapeutic gases, monitors patient responses, educates patients/families, and completes competency tests.
  • Maintains respiratory therapy equipment and documents patient information.
  • Performs emergency care and supports team efforts.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited AMA-approved school of respiratory care.
  • Bachelor's degree from an AMA-approved accredited school in respiratory care preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as an RT, including at least 3 years in pediatrics.
  • Minimum of 1 year supervisory experience.
  • RCP - Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • CRT - Certified Respiratory Therapist.
  • RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist.
  • RRT-NPS - Registered Respiratory Therapist Neonatal/Pediatric (RRT-NPS).
  • BLS - Health Services\BCLS - Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association.
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support.

  • Licenses and certifications as listed above.
