Supervisor, Residential Care Specialist - Evenings

About the role

Havenwyck Hospital, a Joint Commission-accredited and licensed psychiatric hospital in Auburn Hills, Michigan, is seeking a dynamic and compassionate Supervisor, Residential Care Specialist to join our team. We specialize in providing comprehensive behavioral health services to children, adolescents, and adults, with the goal of building strength, confidence, and self-care practices in each patient.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine residential care duties and selected non-professional services under the supervision of the Director of Residential Services and Program Manager.
• Provide a safe and therapeutic environment while caring for children/adolescents, considering safety, residents’ rights, comfort, and developmental level.
• Continuously observe residents’ behavior, mental status, and activities, reporting information to appropriate clinical staff.
• Assist with activities of daily living and encourage independent behavior.
• Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers of residents.
• Participate in the implementation of residents’ individualized plans of care.
• Follow instructions from the Program Director as outlined in policies and procedures.
• Assist with resident trips outside the center, transporting residents in the hospital van as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Associate degree in a healthcare field or two years of college preferred.
• At least 18 months of experience in an RCS role or a position commensurate with the RCS role required.
• Experience in dealing with emotionally impaired individuals preferred.
• Experience treating individuals with Impulse Disorder preferred (on Impulse Disorder Unit).
• Provision of a satisfactory motor vehicle operation report preferred.
