Supervisor, Recreational Therapy (DOH/FBMC #14000)

Salary: $24.88 - $37.32 hourly / $51,755 - $77,633 annually. This position is a Pay Band C6 and may be used for ongoing recruitment.

About the role

Provide direction and supervision for therapeutic recreational activities within an established recreational therapeutic program at a long-term care facility. The goal is to improve and enhance residents' coordination, motor skills, and cognitive level as part of their treatment plan.

Responsibilities

• Assist the director in managing the daily operations of recreational activities.
• Enforce rules and regulations of recreational activities to maintain discipline and ensure safety.
• Help organize and promote interest in recreational activities, such as arts, crafts, sports, games, and hobbies.
• Assist with the needs and interests of residents and groups and plan activities accordingly, given the available equipment or facilities.
• Help coordinate the work activities of personnel, including training staff members and assigning work duties.

Requirements

• Associate Degree in a relevant discipline and three (3) years of experience pertaining to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.
• Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience totaling five (5) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
• Licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico.
• This position is designated as safety-sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random drug/alcohol testing.
• Must pass a tuberculosis (TB) screening upon hire.
• Employment is subject to a nationwide criminal background check and is conditional pending results.
• Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.

Working Conditions

• Works in office areas as well as throughout the nursing service area (e.g., nurses stations, resident rooms).
• Moves intermittently during working hours and is subject to frequent interruptions.
• Involves interaction with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies, and others.
• Subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors.
• Communicates with medical staff, nursing personnel, and other department directors.
• Works beyond normal working hours, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
• Subject to call-back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster).
• Subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions.
• Must adhere to COVID-related requirements prescribed by CMS, including masking and staff vaccination.

Pay

$24.88 - $37.32 hourly / $51,755 - $77,633 annually.
