Responsibilities
- Performs a variety of technical procedures, including applying ionizing radiation
- Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate based on the level of patient contact
- Coordinates the routing of patient visits to and from the Radiology Department and oversees the scheduling of procedures in areas of responsibility during shift
- Supervises department staff, including hiring, evaluating performance and competency, and conducting disciplinary/counseling sessions as needed
- Ensures the quality of radiographs and that necessary computer functions are performed by the technologist for each examination to assure proper charging of procedures
- Ensures compliance with appropriate accreditation bodies and applicable guidelines
- Troubleshoots and resolves errors in Radiology reports as well as patient exam orders, personally correcting those orders when necessary
Requirements
- 3 years previous experience as a registered Radiologic Technologist
- Completion of Radiologic Technology or military training in Radiologic Technology from a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) accredited program
- ARRT-R (Radiography) OR ARDMS-RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) or CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association within 30 days of hire
- Knowledge and technical skills to use a variety of highly specialized radiographic equipment and related procedures
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years mammography experience
- 1 year of supervisory experience
