About the role

We are seeking a Quality Supervisor (Inspection) for our Macomb, MI location. This role reports directly to the Site Quality Manager and requires an individual comfortable in a high-paced, dynamic, and challenging environment. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of Quality Inspection and Engineering, with the ability to read and interpret customer blueprints and advanced manufacturing knowledge of GD&T and precision measurement techniques.

This leader will manage and supervise over 20 site quality inspectors across day and night shifts, ensuring the site maintains the Quality manual and supports the TGSM Quality System. The role demands a people-oriented professional with strong interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and a passion for Quality.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day inspection staff, including administrative oversight and training for Final Inspection, Gage Control, Receiving Inspection, First Piece Inspection, Metallurgical Lab Tech, GMM, and CMM Inspection Teams to ensure proper staffing and high-quality product delivery.
  • Set objective, measurable expectations for personnel and communicate performance levels; assign and delegate tasks.
  • Monitor employee development and provide coaching/training for behavioral or technical improvements.
  • Attend daily Tier 3 meetings, providing updates and follow-up on assigned tasks.
  • Ensure proper management and escalation of customer issues to the Site Quality Manager and Executive Management.
  • Support daily Material Review Board dispositions for customer concession submissions.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying and implementing measurement systems to enhance efficiency and inspection capacity.
  • Support new program launches and develop inspection plans to ensure adherence to customer specifications.
  • Manage the Calibration and Metrology teams to ensure instruments and gauges are verified and validated per scheduled intervals.
  • Oversee the Verification In Process procedure, updating it to improve shop efficiency and ensure a solid feedback loop for throughput improvements.
  • Manage Inspection Stamps, ensuring individuals are qualified to accept product.
  • Interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and confer with Management or Engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Strong human leadership skills, empathy, and proven coaching ability.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple issues under pressure and lead change continuously.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM).
  • 6+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T and ability to develop and institute inspection requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with the ability to interface at all organizational levels.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to train engineers in basic, intermediate, and advanced quality tools.
  • Self-guided work ethic with natural attention to detail.
  • Strong AS9100 experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience with New Product Introduction and Program Start-up.
  • Proven track record of understanding and managing First Article Inspection.
  • ASQ certifications preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to remain seated for long periods while working on a computer or documentation.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and standard office equipment.
  • Capability to withstand long periods of viewing data on a computer screen and/or paper format.
