Supervisor, Production

About the role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Production Supervisor will demonstrate leadership in directing and motivating the workforce to produce products of high quality in the most efficient and safe manner, ensuring that scheduling meets business demands.

Responsibilities

• Drive and initiate continuous improvement activities to improve safety performance, increase Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), rate, and reduce scrap rate.
• Optimize material flow to eliminate waste and increase efficiency.
• Understand how the role contributes to profitability.
• Lead by example, demonstrating involvement over control, and foster teamwork while treating people with dignity and respect.
• Initiate, seek, and welcome change; eliminate waste by rapidly solving problems at their source.
• Examine materials and products at all stages of processing for conformance to customer specifications.
• Plan, schedule, and coordinate activities to fulfill production requirements and ensure on-time delivery.
• Work closely with all departments (production, melt, maintenance, etc.) to meet common goals.
• Aggressively pursue OEE improvements by investigating recurring downtime issues (especially those exceeding 20 minutes) and relentlessly pursuing rate targets.
• Study production schedules and determine appropriate manpower requirements.
• Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
• Coach direct reports, assist in problem-solving, and hold people accountable.
• Schedule, approve, and submit employee timecard records using the Plex system.
• Enforce safety standards and ensure employees work in a safe manner.
• Perform all other assigned job duties.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 3 years’ supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting.
