About the role

The 2nd Shift Supervisor, Production oversees a team of production employees and is responsible for meeting quality and on-time delivery goals that support the department's growth. This role also ensures equipment is properly maintained, reports root cause and failure analyses to Engineering, and participates in cross-functional team meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily operations of the assigned department
  • Supervise day-to-day activities and conducts performance reviews and disciplinary action with special regard to fairness, attendance, accident or injury prevention, and turnover
  • Instruct employees in job-specific techniques needed to complete projects in a timely manner
  • Monitor and direct the workload balance of the department by prioritizing work based on delivery dates, ensuring tasks are assigned and completed, maintaining part schedules for shipping deadlines, and checking work on the floor at frequent intervals
  • Supervise employees by assigning and completing tasks, maintaining schedules, and checking work at frequent intervals using established guidelines, procedures, and policies
  • Participates in hiring activities including interviewing and assessing candidates for open positions and making recommendations for hire
  • Achieve or support manager to achieve department revenue, growth, and profitability goals
  • Control cost by optimizing productivity, process improvements, and automation
  • Work with Project Engineering and/or customers to discuss customer applications and requirements to suggest and collaborate on build methods and build orientations for best results
  • Assist Project Engineering with quoting activities
  • Inspect and repair CAD or STL files as necessary through the use of SolidView, Magics, and SolidWorks
  • Read and understand technical drawings and CAD files for assisting in part build validation
  • Manage raw materials inventory and usage of machine utilization, build queue, and scrap rate
  • Aid in research and development on machine hardware and materials
  • Work with development teams to drive innovation within the service bureau setting
  • Assist in defining process flow for additive related to new additive manufacturing equipment, materials, and post-processing
  • Create and control best practices documentation regarding file preparation of parts to minimize scrap and produce the highest quality parts
  • Responsible for relevant training and maintaining training records in compliance to all applicable Quality Management Systems
  • Work with Quality and/or Project Engineering to make part file adjustments, in order to successfully re-build non-conforming parts
  • Optimize quality while maintaining on-time delivery and satisfying customer requirements
  • Responsible for compliance to all applicable Quality Management Systems
  • Aid in projecting headcount requirements for department and manage staffing in accordance with departmental business plans
  • Implement ISO 9001 and AS 9100 (as applicable) quality system and procedures
  • Participate in related marketing and educational campaigns (webinars, educational videos, etc.)
  • Aid in training customer-facing roles on capabilities and applications

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in manufacturing operations
  • Ability to independently prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to resolve technical issues while maintaining positive working relationships and cross-functional communication
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team

Qualifications

  • Nice to have: Associate (2-year) technical degree
  • Proficiency in SolidView and basic skills in SolidWorks
  • 1–2 years of experience managing employees
  • 1–2 years of production management experience
  • Prior leadership experience on cross-functional or team-based projects
