Supervisor, Procurement (Supply Chain Buyer))
Job Summary
Supports DoD ammunition production programs by supervising procurement activities that ensure timely, cost-effective acquisition of goods and services. The role negotiates supplier terms, secures volume discounts, establishes long-term agreements, and processes requisitions and purchase orders across multiple purchasing disciplines. This position maintains compliance, strengthens supplier relationships, and supports both customer-driven programs and internal operational needs.
About the Role
This position requires a strong understanding of procurement strategies and processes, as well as the ability to collaborate with various departments within the organization. It involves managing a team of procurement professionals and ensuring that all procurement activities align with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Supervises daily procurement and purchasing operations
- Implements the strategy to provide the materials and services to meet organizational requirements for quality, volume, availability, and pricing
- Maintains strategic supplier relationships, negotiates pricing, monitors performance, and expedites to respond to changes in demand or disruptions in the supply chain
- Collaborates with other functions to meet current and future inventory requirements and manage inventory levels
- Utilizes technical tools to analyze data and increase responsiveness to material demands
- Performs auditing processes to ensure procurement and recordkeeping comply with any applicable industry or governmental regulations
- Leads and manages the work of other employees and has responsibility for personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination with concurrence from HR & General Managers
Requirements
- Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 3-5 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
- Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Power BI, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Qualifications
- Preferred education and experience: Bachelor’s Degree
- Discipline: Business, Supply Chain Management or related degree
- Knowledge, skills & abilities: Leadership skills. Decision-making skills. Oral and written communication skills. Analytical thinking skills. Detail oriented. Ability to meet deadlines.
- Experience and use of IFS software.
- Experience in a DoD manufacturing environment.
- FAR / DFARS / CPSR requirements.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time. Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
Travel Requirements
Less than 25% travel likely.
