Responsibilities
- Assesses phlebotomy workload and assigns tasks by assuring timely, accurate and appropriate performance of testing and reporting of results to achieve maximum utilization of resources.
- Affirms policies and procedures are properly maintained and executed by assuring proper preparation and confidentiality of personnel, technical and administrative reports and records to ensure established performance standards are followed.
- Affirms personal and professional development of employees and self-development by encouraging and scheduling staff participation in continuing education workshops, professional meetings, to meet goals of the hospital and the department.
- Affirms that acceptable specimen processing protocols are followed by maintaining accurate records of receipt, processing, and disposition of sample/specimen and/or products.
- Affirms accuracy of patient results by following protocols/procedures to aid in determining a plan of care for the patient.
- Affirms efficient operation of work area by planning and implementing efficient resource management including general, financial, operations and personnel management to assist in development of budgetary goals.
- Affirms accuracy of patient test results by following approved quality control protocols/procedures.
- Attends in-services and continuing education events as it relates to maintaining proficiency/competency for policies and procedures or obtaining additional knowledge on existing or new policies and procedures.
- Performs related accountabilities/responsibilities as required or directed.
Specifications
- Experience: Minimum Required Two (2) years of experience as a Phlebotomist in a hospital, clinic, doctor’s office, etc.
- Education: Minimum Required High School Diploma. GED, or equivalent
- Training: Preferred/Desired Minimum Required Preferred/Desired
- Special Skills: Licensure: Minimum Required Successful completion of a Phlebotomy Program or equivalent training
