Responsibilities
- Supervises, coaches, and develops a team of pharmacy billing operations specialists.
- Provides ongoing feedback and training and conducts annual performance evaluations.
- Fosters a culture of productivity, accountability, continuous improvement, and customer service.
- Develops, implements, and maintains SOP’s for the department to ensure internal controls and policies are being adhered to around billing and collections processes.
- Works closely with cross functional teams on initiatives, process improvements, and problem solving.
- Maintains credit balances for refunds and adjustments.
- Evaluates opportunities to automate work functions to reduce cost of doing business associated with labor costs.
- Monitors team performance and identifies strategic opportunities to support long-term growth.
- Manages multiple priorities effectively while meeting established deadlines.
- Participates in interviews and evaluates candidates for open positions.
- Manages timecards to ensure accurate timekeeping and payroll readiness.
- Captures PTO to maintain coverage and ensure compliance.
- Supports daily operations and helps resolve escalations as needed.
- Distributes workload to balance team capacity, monitors productivity and ensures service-level expectations are met.
- Supports onboarding and training while reinforcing standard processes and best practices.
- Ensures billing accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Maintains billing cycles and resolves discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Serves as back-up to the Manager, Billing Operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or a related field required; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of three (3) years experience in billing or financial operations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of pharmacy billing and collections practices across multiple payer types, including an understanding of operational controls and reimbursement workflows.
- Strong supervisory, coaching, and team development capabilities with the ability to drive accountability, performance, and engagement.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate operational issues, interpret performance data, and make sound, timely decisions.
- A high degree of professionalism, discretion, sound judgment, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in a supervisor or team lead role.
- Experience leading process improvement or workflow optimization initiatives within revenue cycle, billing operations, or related functions.
