About the Role
SIG SAUER, Inc. is a leading provider and manufacturer of firearms, electro-optics, ammunition, airguns, suppressors, remote controlled weapons stations, and training. The Supervisor, OSP oversees day-to-day outsourced special processes (OSP) activities, ensuring products are outsourced to approved vendors, processed correctly, and delivered on time. This role requires collaboration with external vendors, planners, production, quality, engineering, receiving, and internal team members in a manufacturing or warehouse setting.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with vendors to optimize inventory levels, minimizing excess stock while ensuring timely material availability.
- Support the development of vendor performance metrics to evaluate quality, timeliness, and cost-effectiveness.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to vendor performance and logistics operations.
- Coordinate with the Manager, Domestic Logistics to manage and schedule the flow of goods with OSP vendors.
- Assist in streamlining delivery processes to reduce lead times and support efficient transfer of goods to and from the warehouse.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production and quality control, to support workflow and ensure operational efficiency.
- Support vendor relationship management by assisting with performance evaluations, addressing issues, and proactively engaging to meet quality, cost, and delivery standards.
- Assist in identifying cost-saving opportunities with vendor management by analyzing trends and engaging with vendors.
- Ensure all vendor interactions and logistics operations comply with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards.
- Interview, select, and properly train new hires.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to employees, addressing career progression and identifying future leaders.
- Address employee concerns in a fair and efficient manner.
- Provide clear and consistent feedback to employees, documenting performance and recognizing excellence.
- Maintain communication between employees and leadership to ensure procedures and policies are well understood.
- Implement process improvements that enhance efficiency and reduce costs within the warehouse.
- Participate in problem-solving teams to drive root cause analysis of internal and external quality failures, particularly to prevent customer escapes.
- Participate in 5S workplace organizational activities and maintain the area in good working order through sustainment activities, including requests for maintenance.
- Follow all required Safety and ISO procedures.
- Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma required; Associate’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 3-5 years of Operations or Supply Chain experience in a manufacturing or warehouse setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1-2 years of experience leading a team is required.
- Ability to apply problem-solving, organization, and communication skills to manage daily operations and resolve issues.
- Able to lead and develop a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ERP, and vendor management systems.
- Must be able to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to build effective vendor partnerships and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Working Conditions
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer using a keyboard and mouse performing repetitive tasks.
- Ability to open file cabinets, reach with hands and arms, bend, and twist, lift and move files.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
- Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. Security Mandates.
