Responsibilities
- Ensures manufacturing operations are running at maximum efficiency.
- Responsible for ensuring manufacturing teams are hitting expected production numbers and production priorities are in line with customer demand and can achieve projected shipping requirements.
- Daily decision-making relative to what machines are required to run and what orders need to be completed based upon available production personnel and equipment.
- Adheres to all aspects of plant safety and performing safety audits on a continual basis.
- Responsible for knowing what orders are starting and finishing and what change-overs are required for production continuity using production planning tools such as lean manufacturing practices, XA, and daily communication with production planners.
- Handles daily production related issues including manpower movements.
- Communicates material outages during production runs and drives resolution through support team involvement and communication during Tier 1 meetings.
- Follows up with issue resolution and material shortage resolution.
- Collaborates with your team and mentors team leaders.
- Manages execution of review process for production level employees and team leaders.
- Handles employee time-off requests, attendance recording, payroll approval for the shift and selected critical support groups.
- Identifies opportunities for improvement related to production downtime, inefficiencies, and other leading/lagging indicators.
- Works with lean teams to facilitate projects, drive to completion, and track status of A3 and kaizen reports.
- Collaborates lean team activities to Project Facilitator to drive to project completion.
- Responsible for Customer Audit Support as required.
- Responsible for opening and closing building as required under normal production.
- Develops and supports plans for weekend overtime, as needed.
- Support the interview process and assist in coordinating onboarding and training for new hires.
- Supports the Operator Advancement Program, including tracking progress and following up with team members on required documentation for promotions.
- Supports overtime efforts based on business needs and provides leadership coverage as needed.
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Some college preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to navigate complex emotions, demonstrate empathy, and effectively de-escalate challenging situations.
- Strong mechanical aptitude for production equipment and comfortable with using hand tools.
- Understanding of LEAN manufacturing principles.
- Strong mathematical aptitude.
- Ability to mentor and lead peers and reports.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong work ethic.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to manage change.
- Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
- Good analytical skills.
- Knowledge of SPC.
- Knowledge of Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP).
