About the role
The Operations Supervisor oversees all operations within an assigned geographic area, directly supervising drivers and/or laborers. Key responsibilities include ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations, managing staff schedules, and addressing issues in real-time.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations within an assigned geographic area
- Directly supervise drivers and/or laborers
- Evaluate and perform facility, area, or route visits and assessments
- Lead and supervise laborers or drivers within the assigned facility or geographical area
- Respond positively to unpredictable situations or problems
- Monitor operational performance and address issues in real-time
- Implement improvements to support overall departmental effectiveness and business objectives
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 3 years of experience as Operations Supervisor, preferably from the waste management, manufacturing, or trucking/transportation industry
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or willingness to obtain one if supervising drivers
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
- Self-starter with a strong level of accountability
- Detailed orientation and upbeat attitude
- Excellent Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook software skills
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the job
- Experience with routine maintenance operations
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Sit for prolonged periods
- Use hands and fingers to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls
- Frequent use of hands and arms
- Talk and hear, both in person and by phone or web meetings
- Stand and walk occasionally
- Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
- Regularly required to use close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, in a climate-controlled environment with heating and air conditioning
- May be required to move around the work site and may be exposed to various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow
- May be exposed to high noise levels from trucks and machinery while outside typical office setting
