Summary

Supervise and monitor all cash applications. Develop and implement procedures to improve efficiency of payment posting, refunds and adjustments. Oversee refund processing. Perform month-end balancing.

Major Job Functions

  • Supervise and train payment posting specialist, refund specialist, cash applications specialist and receptionist to include the completion of performance appraisals
  • Develop, implement and maintain innovative procedures for processing payments and refunds to improve production
  • Oversee the processing of refunds to include verification of credit and documentation attached
  • Keep abreast of current insurance contracts and troubleshoots problems that arise with incorrect reimbursement
  • Maintain and oversee deposits, vouchers, and EOBs in accordance with procedures established by the department
  • Ensure compliance with Federal regulations for maximum reimbursement
  • Ensure quality control by monitoring daily operations and employee performance
  • Responsible for the reconciliation of deposits and month-end balancing
  • Review vouchers periodically to ensure that correct payments are being received from carriers and hold meetings to review denials and rejections

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration preferred
  • 3 years’ experience in payment posting/management or supervisory experience required

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required

  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
  • Knowledge of computer functions
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to read and interpret EOB's and vouchers
  • Knowledge of CPT-4 and ICD-9 coding
  • PC and CRT experience
  • Leadership qualities and organizational skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to train personnel, directs implementation of policies and procedures, and establish and maintain effective relationships with necessary agencies

Physical Requirements

  • Numerical ability required
  • Motor coordination and finger dexterity to operate calculator, computer terminal, and typewriter
  • Talking and hearing to give information by phone
