Work Shifts
8:00 P.M – 8:30 A.M
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient care as necessary, using the problem-oriented progress notes written to match each problem documented on the Problem List and organized using the SOAP format.
- Collaborates with the On-Site Director of Nursing (OS-DON) in the orientation of new staff on the unit. Evaluates the new nurse on an ongoing basis; writes a formal evaluation at the end of the probation period, and makes recommendations to the OS-DON.
- Evaluates and provides feedback to staff on an ongoing basis and in an annual formal evaluation conference. Collaborates with the OS-DON and/or Deputy Director of Nursing. Provides appropriate documentation and records of nursing personnel activities.
- Identifies staff development needs and plans strategies to meet the needs in collaboration with available nursing resources.
- Communicates, documents and collaborates on an ongoing basis with the OS-DON concerning patient care and unit administration.
- Administers medication in a safe and efficient manner consistent with prescribed orders, mouth checks, and established standards.
- Shares with peers the knowledge that is gained at continuing education programs.
- Contributes to an environment that is conducive to meeting patients’ needs by taking initiative in maintenance of supplies and equipment.
- Contributes to maintenance and/or improvement of the unit morale by utilizing established channels of communication, recognizing, accepting, and respecting people as individuals, and demonstrating concern for unit and patient needs over a 24-hour period.

- Takes initiative in maintenance of supplies and equipment.
- Observes security regulations and appropriate care of contraband.

Working Conditions
- Clinic and Infirmary environment. Constant standing, walking; frequent bending, lifting and reaching; occasional sitting.
ADA Requirements
- Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Minimum Qualifications
- A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State;
- Holds, or obtains through facility orientation, a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA);
- Three (3) years of experience as a registered nurse.
Additional Salary Compensation
- An annual education differential if you currently possess an appropriate degree in nursing or an allied health discipline from an accredited college or university, as listed below:
- Bachelors in allied health discipline = $900
- Masters in allied health discipline = $1,200
- Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) = $1,800
- Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) = $2,000
- Doctorate in Education, Nursing Practice or PhD in Nursing (DNP) = $2,500
- An annual certification differential ranging from $1,878 up to $4,878 if you currently hold appropriate certifications that are nationally recognized in the discipline or area of specialization for which you are employed.
- An annual nursing experience differential ranging from $1,097 up to $9,100 for up to 10 years of experience if you have outside nursing experience as a Supervisor of Nurses.
