About the role
Reporting to the Electrical Installation Manager, the Supervisor of Electrical Installation provides support to the department's project managers and assists, informs, and follows up with their immediate superior on the progress of current and future electrical installations.
Responsibilities
- Follow up on electrical installation projects from order entry to attaining the electrical installation certificate.
- Participate in the elaboration of the electrical installation schedule and planning of the work with the Electrical Installation Manager and the Mechanical Installation Coordinator.
- Follow up with the person in charge of electrical shipments and the Project Manager to ensure all external electrical components are delivered to the site and available for installation.
- Know the tender specifications submitted to selected electrical subcontractors.
- Ensure the Project Manager is familiar with technical installation specifications, including required authorizations, local/international standards, and safety regulations.
- Oversee electrical work daily across various projects to answer questions, enforce tender quotes, supervise progress, and undertake corrective actions to ensure subcontractor compliance with the schedule.
- Participate in site meetings (on-site or remotely) and manage follow-up, negotiation, and approval of extraction requests by subcontractors, clients, and electrical project managers.
- Carry out electrical installation tasks such as wiring electrical panels when required and participate in electro-mechanical start-up tests.
- Provide technical advice and support to the team of electricians, offering internal technical assistance for electrical installation of equipment and contributing to the improvement of future installations.
- Perform all other duties as requested by direct management and other associates.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) in Electromechanics or a College Diploma (DEC) in Electrical Engineering; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 2 to 3 years of related experience in electrical installation within an industrial environment.
- Good leadership, autonomy, ability to mobilize and motivate a team, strong decision-making, and team management skills.
- Willingness to travel to clients (Canada, United States, and overseas) approximately 75% of the time.
- Basic knowledge of electrical installation standards (Canada, United States, and international, e.g., Europe) is a strong asset.
- Technical knowledge of components in automation and control is a strong asset.
- Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
