Responsibilities
- Assists with the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for Medical/Surgical/Pediatrics, patients.
- Participates in nursing educational needs assessments and quality improvement activities.
- Aids in the development, revision, and implementation of new policies and procedures.
- Facilitates patient care by informing staff, educating staff, and ensuring competence within staff members’ scope of practice by implementing best practices.
- Develops and monitors nursing staff through leadership skills, including role modeling, coaching, and monitoring.
- Collaborates with nursing management, other departments, and professionals within the hospital as well as in the community.
- Assists with legal and regulatory standards to maintain quality care.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, motor/sensor, psychosocial, safety standards appropriate to the age of the patient served.
- Provides evidence-based nursing practice and critical thinking skills to ensure optimally safe patient care.
Requirements
- Minimum three years Medical/Surgical/Pediatric or commensurate unit experience required.
- One year of Charge Nurse or supervisory experience required.
Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited School of Nursing, required.
- BSN required.
- Master’s degree preferred.
Skills
- Advanced clinical practice skills.
- Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, motor/sensor, psychosocial, safety standards appropriate to the age of the patient served.
- Evidence-based nursing practice.
